The 7th generation is where Pakistan’s used laptop market gets crowded and confusing. These are 2016 to 2017 business machines, mostly Dell Latitude 7480s and HP EliteBook 840 G4s imported as corporate surplus, and they sell for Rs. 34,000 to Rs. 55,000 depending on the chip and condition. They are a real step up from 5th Gen machines: better screens, USB-C on many models, faster storage. But there is one thing every buyer must understand before spending a rupee, and we will get to it.
7th generation laptop prices in Pakistan
| Machine | Configuration | Asking price (Rs.) | Listed on |
| Lenovo ThinkPad L470 | i5 7th Gen, 8/256 | 34,000 | Traders, Karachi |
| Dell Latitude 7480 | i5 7th Gen | 40,000 to 42,000 | OLX |
| Dell Latitude 7480 | i7 7th Gen | 49,000 to 55,000 | OLX and trader listings |
| HP EliteBook 840 G4 | i5-7200U | 44,000 | OS Laptops Store, Lahore |
| HP EliteBook 840 G4 | i5-7300U | 46,000 | usedlaptop.com.pk |
| HP EliteBook 840 G4 | i7 7th Gen | 42,000 to 45,000 | Dream Laptops and OLX |
Prices are asking prices, and the spread on the same model tells you how condition-driven this market is. One seller’s “A-grade” EliteBook 840 G4 at Rs. 46,000 will have a fresh SSD and a strong battery; a Rs. 40,000 unit will need both replaced within the year. Never compare 7th Gen prices across sellers without asking what storage is fitted and what the battery health is.
The honest catch with 7th generation
Here is the thing most listings will not tell you. A 7th Gen Core i5-7200U or i7-7600U is a dual-core processor. Intel doubled the core count in the very next generation, which means an 8th Gen i5 is dramatically faster than a 7th Gen i7 despite sitting lower on the badge ladder. Microsoft also left nearly all 7th Gen chips off the official Windows 11 support list, and standard Windows 10 support ended in October 2025. None of this makes a 7th Gen laptop a bad buy; it makes it a buy that must be priced right. At Rs. 40,000, a clean Latitude 7480 is a sensible, well-built machine for documents, classes and browsing. At Rs. 55,000 for the i7 version, you are paying quad-core money for a dual-core chip, and you should walk away and look at 8th Gen instead.
What you get, model by model
Dell Latitude 7480 (Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 55,000). The most common 7th Gen machine in Pakistan. Slim, light, good keyboard, and spare parts everywhere. The i5 version at Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 42,000 is the honest buy; the i7 at Rs. 49,000 and above only makes sense when the specific unit is exceptionally clean and comes with 16GB RAM.
HP EliteBook 840 G4 (Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 46,000). Slightly softer pricing than the Dell, similar build, and easy to service. Watch out for units with the low-end 1366×768 screen; the Full HD panel is the one to hold out for.
Lenovo ThinkPad L470 (from Rs. 34,000). The budget entry, thicker and heavier, but with the ThinkPad keyboard people buy these for. A fair starter if the screen and battery check out.
7th Gen vs the alternatives at this money
If your budget is Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 55,000, do not settle for 7th Gen by default. The same money buys 8th Gen quad-core machines in our best laptops under Rs. 100,000 in Pakistan guide, including the EliteBook 840 G5 from about Rs. 55,000, and that machine will feel fast for years longer. If your budget is closer to Rs. 40,000, compare against the older stock in our 5th generation laptop price in Pakistan guide: the 7th Gen machine is worth the extra Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 for the screen, ports and battery life. Coming downwards from a bigger budget, our 11th generation laptop price in Pakistan guide shows what Rs. 66,000 plus buys, and it is a different league entirely.
Before you hand over money
- Confirm the exact chip (i5-7200U, i5-7300U, i7-7600U) in Task Manager, not just the sticker.
- Check storage type and health: insist on an SSD and look at its wear level.
- Generate a battery report (powercfg /batteryreport) and treat anything under 60 percent health as a negotiating point.
- Full HD screen only; the low-resolution panels on some units are miserable for study.
- Ask about the seller’s checking warranty in writing, even if it is only seven days.
- Well-built business machines (Latitude 7480, EliteBook 840 G4) from Rs. 34,000, cheaper than 8th Gen with better screens and ports than 5th Gen.
- Parts, batteries and chargers are cheap and easy to find across Pakistan.
- Fully capable for office work, online classes, browsing and light student programming.
- Dual-core chips: an 8th Gen i5 is much faster, so 7th Gen i7 pricing above Rs. 50,000 is poor value.
- No official Windows 11 support, which shortens the machine’s useful software life.
- Condition varies wildly between sellers; battery and SSD health decide whether a unit is a bargain or a repair bill.
Frequently asked questions
What is the price of a 7th generation laptop in Pakistan?
Used 7th Gen laptops run from about Rs. 34,000 for a ThinkPad L470 to Rs. 55,000 for a clean Dell Latitude 7480 with a Core i7, based on OLX and shop listings checked in October 2026. There is no new stock; all units are imported used machines.
Is a 7th generation laptop still good in 2026?
For documents, browsing, online classes and light work, yes. Just remember it is a dual-core chip from 2017, so heavy multitasking and modern software will feel slow, and it has no official Windows 11 support.
Should I buy a 7th Gen i7 or an 8th Gen i5?
The 8th Gen i5, almost every time. It has four cores instead of two and is far faster in real use, and 8th Gen business laptops start around Rs. 55,000 used.
Core i5-7200U or i5-7300U, does it matter?
Barely. The 7300U adds vPro management features that home users never touch. Buy on screen, storage and battery condition instead.
What should I check before buying a used 7th Gen laptop?
The exact processor model, SSD health, battery wear from a Windows battery report, a Full HD screen, and a written checking warranty from the seller.
